Fenland Running Club in action at Round Norfolk Relay
Fenland Running Club were in action at the Round Norfolk Relay at the weekend.
The race is a continuous relay of 17 unequal stages of mixed terrain, covering over 197 miles - with 55 clubs participating.
FRC took responsibility for the marshalling duties in Downham Market at the changeover point for the start of Stage 16.
Marshals were Martin and Nicky Jennings, John and Cheryl Chapman, Andy Beveridge, Jane Greenwood, Richard Agger, Trevor Sutherill and Grahame Peacock.
Running for over 24 hours without a break (and carrying a baton), the event is more than just a normal relay for it requires special preparation, planning and support.
A staggered start based on predicted times ensuresd all teams are home by 10am on the Sunday, with the first teams setting out at 5:30am on the Saturday.

Elsewhere, the Sandringham Parkrun was cancelled out of respect after Queen Elizabeth II passed away.
The 509th King’s Lynn event did go ahead, though.
Organisers held their run (having cancelled the previous Saturday) with 271 runners participating.
Trevor Sutherill brought the Fenland Running Club team home in 27:57, followed by Team Jane Greenwood and Phillip Clarke 31:13 and 31:14.
