Hard work has paid off for youngsters when they picked up their GCSE results at University Academy Long Sutton.

Mr Davé said: “First and foremost, like all schools up and down the country I would like to congratulate all of our pupils for their hard work and dedication over the last five years. It is great to see so many smiling, happy faces celebrating the fruits of their labour.

“We are really proud of our learners and their achievements. In particular, we are delighted by the really pleasing performance of Science, Art, Drama and Statistics, coupled with the strong performance once again of Maths and English.

“In terms of individual performances, I think it is real testimony to the hard work of pupils from all backgrounds that the top five performers in terms of progress include pupils from a very wide range of learner groups; thus continuing to demonstrate that UALS is an establishment that caters for the needs of all of its pupils. Indeed, many pupils look to have achieved excellent Progress 8 scores across their subjects.

“Of course, I am most happy that our pupils are in a position to pursue the next stage in their educational journey of their choice, and we wish everybody all the very best for their futures.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank parents and carers for the support they have offered their children over the last 5 years, often driving their children to school for extra lessons on a weekend in the depths of winter. Lastly, I must also thank all of the staff and Governors at UALS for the work, support and dedication that they continue to give to ensure our pupils have achieved as well as they have.”
