Pinchbeck gets active!

Harry Potter games were among the highlights of a busy Pinchbeck Community Hub and Library-hosted Pinchbeck Gets Active day.

Pinchbeck Parish Council supported and hosted this event.

Pinchbeck Community Land Trust (PCLT) covered the cost of the climbing wall, mobile skate park and obstacle course on the adjacent Glebe Field, which were popular with the children.

District councillors Elizabeth Sneath, Sally Slade and James Avery donated from their Designated Budget and this was used towards the two onsite entertainers. Anglian Water contributed to the funding and staged quiz games which involved guessing quantities of water for everyday activities.

The library hosted a Harry Potter-themed bookshop which was a sell-out. Some books contained lucky Willy Wonka-esque golden tickets which were 'passports to a prize'.

Tilly’s Garden Games Hire brought games such as bean bag throwing.

Children’s Links from Horncastle came in their camper van and brought games and refreshments. Their music facilitator John Duncan entertained by getting visitors to play percussion instruments including bongos, drums and maracas.

Pinchbeck Parish Council clerk Barbara Camps said: "More than 600 people came up to the site. The bongos were an absolute blast! It was encouraging just to get the day off to a really good start.

"Staff and volunteers here organised the event while parish councillors came on board and helped."

Arts and crafts included kite-making, face masks, paintings, bracelets and necklaces while other attractions included big bubble-making and hula hoops.

Pinchbeck W.I. ladies made tea and coffee, while Pinchbeck FC donated car parking space. The local SPAR store provided tea bags, coffee, biscuits and cakes.
