Cowley Academy will be led by Kath Kilby while Katie Belcher remains at the head of Giles Academy in Old Leake.

Trust chief executive officer Lucy Conley said the changes reflect the talent at the academy.

She said “These changes signify the exceptionally strong leadership team at South Lincolnshire Academies Trust and the opportunities for progression where the trust develops and nurtures leaders from within.

“Whilst the trust have explored the option of recruiting externally, this has only reinforced the exceptional talent already within the trust. These changes will be implemented permanently from September 2024 rather than mid-year to ensure continuity as the schools approach the important exam season.

“During this time, the new Heads of School will be visiting their new schools in preparation for the 2024/25 academic year.”

Mrs Curson has led Spalding Academy for the last two years and driven a lot of improvement at school and will be bringing that knowledge to the Bourne school.

Mr Martin has managed the transition of Cowley Academy, which had previously been Thomas Cowley High School into the trust following a difficult Ofsted. He is now looking forward to moving over to Spalding Academy.

Mrs Kilby, who has worked at the trust for a decade with positions such as education executive director under her belt but will be joining the Head of School team permanently in her new role at Cowley Academy. She has recently held the post of interim head of school at Bourne Academy.

Miss Belcher has led the Giles Academy since it joined the trust in 2020.
