Trio still at large after police chase involving helicopter in Spalding




A helicopter was called into action to try to catch three people who police chased from Boston town centre to Spalding last night.

The trio are wanted in connected with the theft of a red Citroen Nemo - and ultimately managed to give police the slip.

Officers had received a call just before 10.40pm on Monday to say the vehicle had been stolen from an address in Lime Court Spalding.

At about 9.30pm last night, the vehicle was seen on John Adams Way in Boston.

It failed to stop for officers and was then pursued along the A16 to Sutterton then down the A17 and along the B1397 to Gosberton and through Surfleet and Pinchbeck before reaching Spalding.

The vehicle was abandoned when three people ran from the vehicle at the junction with Clay Lake and Stonegate in Spalding.

A helicopter helped to search for the men from above - but the trio evaded capture and are still at large.

They are described as:

• One small, wearing grey joggers a black hooded ¾ length jacket

• A larger man, wearing a baseball hat, black jacket, grey jogging bottoms with black and white trainers

• The third person was wearing a camo style hoody, black jeans and black trainers

Inspector Nick Waters, Neighbourhood Inspector, South Holland, said: “The level of driving displayed in this incident was dangerous and we are very keen to apprehend those involved. They are lucky they did not cause a crash and serious injury or worse.

“I would ask anyone who has dashcam footage of the vehicle as it failed to stop for police or anyone who has information that will help us arrest those involved to contact us.”
