Fundraisers needed for Butterfly Hospice in Boston

A charity which runs a palliative care hospice is hoping to form a new team of volunteer fundraisers to support its work in South Holland.

The six-bed Butterfly Hospice in Boston relies entirely on donations to enable it to continue its valuable work with people suffering life limiting illnesses and their families.

It currently has a well-supported charity shop in Spalding’s Sheep Market, but hopes to set up a new team which will further boost its efforts in the community by organising events such as coffee mornings and quiz nights, as well as attend summer shows and Christmas fairs.

To start the ball rolling, a coffee morning will be held at Broad Street Methodist Church, Spalding, from 10am to 12pm on Friday March 15, where Sue Simpson, community fundraising co-ordinator for the Butterfly Hospice, hopes people will sign up to join the new team.

The event is open to the public and Sue hopes it could become a regular event if a fundraising team can be created to take responsibility for running it.

She said: “The efforts of our fundraisers are vital to ensure the hospice can continue to provide such a valuable service to ill people and their families.

“We would really appreciate people stepping forward as volunteers to form a new team in Spalding to support our fundraising.”
