Highways chief at Lincolnshire County Council tells Whaplode residents ‘possible sink hole’ is not an immediate issue

A highways chief says a ‘suitable plan will be put in place if required’ to repair a ‘large dip’ on a village road.

The anonymous report of ‘a large dip, possibly a sink hole’ along Cobgate in Whaplode was reported on the Fix My Street website earlier this month.

Officers at Lincolnshire County Council have since conducted an assessment of the area and reassured residents it is not an immediate issue.

Coun Richard Davies, the council’s executive member for Highways, said: "We have had some reports of this made to our officers and on Fix My Street, the reporting tool, and our officers did assess this area last week.

“The conclusion of that assessment is that we don't think there's an immediate issue here, but will keep our eye on it and ensure that a suitable plan is put in place should we discover the need to action one.”

The dip in the road is said to be near the entrance of the new housing estate and close to a 30mph signpost.
