Holbeach bouncy castle business, The Bounce House Party, is booming after lockdown

During the COVID lockdown, many businesses had to adapt quickly and for a Holbeach bouncy castle company that meant looking at new ways to keep going.

As reported on Spalding Today in May, Nick Parrish, who runs The Bounce House Party with his partner Gemma Crane, worked hard to make rentals of the company’s inflatables safe during the pandemic.

And their hard work has paid off as the business is going from strength to strength and has just celebrated its first birthday.

“It started when I first rented out a bouncy castle twice in the space of one month for my boys’ birthdays,” Nick explained. “Between myself and my partner we have four boys and two daughters and we thought we might as well buy one.”

When his friends jokingly asked if they could borrow it, self-employed engineer Nick decided to buy another and rent it out.

“I sorted out all the insurance and bits and pieces,” he said.

The business was just getting going when the coronavirus pandemic hit.

But determined to bring a smile to the faces of children who were missing out on their traditional birthday parties due to the lockdown, Nick and his partner researched ways of hiring out their inflatables safely.

He teamed up with another bouncy castle company, Laken Inflatables, from Boston, to find the best way to do this and the most thorough cleaning products to use.

The inflatables were then rented out for use by individual households with full social distancing measures in place for delivery and collection.

Since we published the story, the business has grown, enabling Nick to invest in more inflatables; and take on an extra member of staff who had lost his previous job due to the COVID pandemic.

“We have had a lot of enquiries since the story and July has been crazy with bookings,” Nick added.

Keeping within strict guidelines they are sticking with renting to just private parties and gardens at the moment.
