Holbeach and East Elloe Hospital Trust announce plans for 30th anniversary Garden Party on June 30

Holbeach Hospital has announced plans for a 30th anniversary garden party to celebrate its ownership by the community.

The Ukulele Orchestra, a Battle of Britain memorial flypast, face painting, games and a classic car display are some of the attractions planned for the birthday party at the hospital, off Boston Road North, on Sunday, June 30, from 1pm until 4pm.

Rebecca Atkinson, secretary of Holbeach and East Elloe Hospital Trust, said: "In March 1988, South Lincolnshire Health Authority announced that Holbeach’s hospital was to close because of pressure on local resources.

"Local people desperately wanted to save their local hospital and decided to set up an appeal to raise funds.

"The Trust took over the day-to-day running and financing of the hospital on April 1, 1989, when it was officially closed by the NHS.

"The hospital has changed significantly since then but still retains its core vision of being owned by the community, for the benefit of the local community."

Any individual or group interested in setting up a stall at the garden party, or donating prizes for the event, can call Holbeach Hospital on 01406 422283 or email info@holbeach-hospital.org.uk.
