Brothers Luke and Ryan Hart have today revealed how Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn backed their bid to highlight domestic abuse following a shocking double murder in Spalding.

Following the shooting of their mum and sister, Luke and Ryan have published a book that shines a light on coercive control, and Mr Corbyn wrote the foreword.

It's two years since Lance Hart shot and killed his wife Claire (50) and daughter Charlotte (19) before killing himself near Spalding swimming pool.

Luke told the Free Press: "After the murders Jeremy Corbyn tweeted 'Shocking events in Spalding, Lincolnshire. My thoughts are with the victims and their families.'

"We approached Jeremy and he was keen to be involved to help address the complexities of domestic abuse and the dangerous ways the narratives of such abuse are clouded in the media."

The new book is called "Operation Lighthouse: Reflections on our family's devastating story of coercive control and domestic homicide", and is available from Amazon.

Luke said: "Our hopes for the book are that we can increase public awareness of coercive control, understanding that it is both prevalent and dangerous.

"We wrote the book so that those who are living with coercive control will be able to recognise it, as from our experience and talking to others it is very difficult to understand from the inside, as well as helping others from outside to understand what the signs of abuse are in those that they love.

"We believe coercive control can be defeated if we all start talking about it, so that it has nowhere to hide. We have shared our heartbreak and we hope that if we are able to talk about our story, then others may be able to talk about theirs too. We shouldn't be afraid of talking about domestic abuse, we should be afraid that it's happening.

"As young men, we see the importance that men begin to stand up to violence against women and children. We hope other men will join us in vocal opposition to what is a national health crisis of male abuse and violence."
