South Holland council tax bills 2022/23: What you will pay
While the district council is the ‘billing authority’ responsible for collecting your cash, the authority’s portion makes up about 10% of the actual cost.
The vast bulk goes to Lincolnshire County Council - which this year has put its share up by 5%.
It recently explained 3% is needed to fund adult social care and 2% to part-fill a black hole in the roads maintenance fund after Government cuts left them struggling to repair our crumbling roads.
Lincolnshire Police and Crime Commissioner Marc Jones is putting his share of the bill up 3.75% - in part to help pay for 67 more police officers for the county.
A small chunk also goes to town and parish councils (or in Spalding’s case the ‘Spalding Special Expenses Account’ as there is no specific town council).
When all added together, the average band D council tax bill is going up by £85.05 - a 4.58% rise 2021/22.
