Spalding based mum to be hopes to empower other women with new community class

A mum-to-be who believes Spalding lacks ‘passion, resources and understanding’ for pregnant women hopes to empower others with new community classes.

As a result of her first-hand experience, Bekki Loveridge — of Adults Move Lincolnshire — has created a new Prenatal Power Circle class in the hope it will provide support and guidance to expecting mothers in the area.

The group session will take place at the Zen Space on Broad Street in Spalding, on Saturdays between 10.30am and 11.30am.

Bekki, who is currently in her third trimester, said: “I think there is definitely a lack of activities designed for pregnant people in the area. There are so many challenges which surround it and I think physical and social interaction is really important – I wish I’d have had it from the start of my own pregnancy.

“I want to be able to thrive, not just survive being pregnant. I feel passionate about changing it because of my own experiences because it is very nerve-wracking.

“The class will be about empowerment and making people feel at ease, even when times are challenging.”

Expecting mothers can expect a dynamic, low-impact workout which will incorporate a series of safe and modified exercises to target the key areas such as the core, glutes, legs and upper body.

Each movement has been tailored to support the body as it changes during pregnancy and will help alleviate common discomforts, improve posture and enhance overall mobility.

The class will also be led by prenatal fitness instructor Roseanna Mackay, of Adults Move Lincolnshire.

Bekki added: “When you are pregnant, you’re expected to learn everything yourself – that’s effort, I want to make it simplistic and easier for everyone to be given the same opportunity to learn together.

“There’s a limited amount of activities in the area and I think it’s because there is a lack of resources, understanding and passion.

“People often don’t look as if they’re on their own but your partner and family might not always understand. I’m hoping to create a community which can educate and support. If the class is successful we’d like to be able to host more workshops with specialists and pregnancy yoga.”

Places cost £6 per person. For more information visit the Adults Move Lincolnshire website or call 07833 606051.
