Donington resident sets up cat butler business

An animal lover is putting her 30-year career on paws… to become a cat butler.

Jane Bishop was left feline the time was right to take on a new venture, and says she wants to launch a premium service to look after your beloved pets in the comfort of their own homes.

Having buried her 30-year office-based career to launch The Cat Butler Donington, the 52-year-old is now offering a bespoke sitting service for your cat across Spalding, Bourne, Boston and Sleaford, as well as other interested parts of Lincolnshire.

“Before the desire to become a cat butler, I did office work for over 30 years,” said the self-professed ‘cat mum’.

“In 2003, my husband Paul and I, moved from Poole, Dorset, to Donington, which was a really big change for us.

“I started office work as soon as we arrived and continued to do this up until recently when I felt the need for a career change. I’ve always loved cats, so my new business is the perfect fit for me.”

Talking about why she chose cat sitting, and her own feline family, Jane said: “We’ve lived with cats for over 15 years and the joy they bring when we get home is second to none.

“So, it’s quite fitting to be choosing to visit and care for many other cats as my everyday job.

“Currently we have three rescue cats, Tilly, who is the most loving and affectionate cat I’ve ever met, if there’s food down - it’s gone in seconds.

“Lola and Maisy, who are mother and daughter, follow each other around the house. Lola will steal your seat the second you stand up and Maisy, who is the quietest of the three, will bounce into action if there’s a toy or a laser pen about!”

Having launched her business on March 3, Jane is excited about what the future holds.

“I’m so looking forward to being part of something rewarding and fulfilling - and I can’t wait to give first class care and attention to all the lovely local cats I’ll be privileged to meet.

“I absolutely love being in the company of cats so being able to have this as my daily job will be simply furbulous.”
