What is bubble tea and is it worth a try now it's sold in Spalding?

Bubble tea is a unique looking drink which originated in Taiwan - and is now offered by a new Spalding outlet.

It consists of blending tea with milk, fruit and fruit juices and adding the 'bubbles' of your choice.

Sushi Boba is located in Red Lion Street, Spalding and opened last week - selling both sushi and this unusual tea.

Kenneth Tang and his wife Zoe are offering a taste of Asia to Spalding - so I wanted to see what it was all about.

I decided to go for the brown sugar milk tea with tapioca balls, which was £4.50.

The flavour was really not what I expected, however it was a sweet experience.

To my surprise the tapioca balls were chewy in texture and took some time to get used to.

My advice would be to bear with them - once you do get used to them they are actually quite nice and I found them better the longer I went on with the drink.

Reporter Duncan Browne tried out the lychee fruit tea with peach popping balls, this cost £4.

Duncan said: "It was a nice refreshing experience with a fruity taste."

The fruit tea was a completely different experience to the brown sugar milk tea - and both are unlike other drinks out there.

A little warning too - they are quite sugary so brace yourself for a rush!

Overall I would definitely recommend trying it out. Even if won't replace your usual drink of choice, it's certainly worth sampling once.

The sushi also tastes and looks amazing - which is all made fresh.

Zoe and Kenneth were both nice and friendly and are happy to give suggestions if you are unsure what to choose.

Pop along and see for yourself.
