Cancer survivor and members from the Elizabethan Centre Social Club in Whaplode Drove, raise more than £1,000 for Prostate Cancer UK

A passionate cancer survivor raised more than £1,000 for charity and urges more people to get tested.

After being diagnosed with prostate cancer 12 years ago and undergoing 38 radiotherapy treatments, Chairman of the GCE Peterborough and District Football League, David Barfoot, has been raising awareness for cancer charities since he retired.

David and members from The Elizabethan Centre Social Club in Whaplode Drove raised £1,200 through raffles and other functions – and all of the money raised has been donated to Prostate Cancer UK.

David said: “I am very pleased with the amount we raised. We held different functions and also received donations from our league sponsors.

“I feel very passionate about it because if it wasn’t for the charity, I wouldn’t be here chatting now – I was one of the lucky ones really because I am still here alive and kicking. I always urge people to go and get the PSA test done.”
