Organisers of Celebrate Surfleet event feel ‘relieved’ after a successful event – but call for more volunteers
Organisers say they feel ‘relieved’ that a village fete was successful - but are putting out an appeal for more help to ensure next year’s event goes ahead.
A fun dog show, hot air balloon rides and a bucking bronco were among the attractions for visitors at Sunday’s Celebrate Surfleet, which was held in Glen Park, Station Road.
After working on it since January, organiser, Jill Wright, feels relieved and pleased with how the event went - despite the damp start on Sunday.
She said: “It went very well. We were worried when the day first started but the weather cleared up and it was a really nice day.
“It was busy, there were a lot of people who came and we are all feeling positive for how it went – we were relieved.
“All of the volunteers need a big applause but we do need more helpers in order for the next one to go ahead. If people don’t help take over, there will be no one else left to run it. ”
The fun dog show, which was run by Helen Vaitkevicieus, of Lincs Dog Training in Pinchbeck, raised more than £665.50 for Labrador Lifeline and Boxer Rescue by attracting 200 entries for the different classes.
Jill added: “Lincs Dog training did a great job and we couldn’t have done it without them – everyone was incredible.”
The money is currently being counted to see the total of how much was raised on the day and some of it will got towards fixing the clock in St Laurence Church.
Cocker spaniel Matte, who was owned by Karolyn Grimmitt, took the best in show title in the dog show.
Trainer Helen Vaitkevicieus was delighted with the success of the show.
She said: “I was incredibly pleased with how the dogs behaved and how everyone turned out as it was a lovely village event.
“For me it was great and I really loved it.”
