Special educational needs teacher at Thomas Middlecott Academy in Kirton has been nominated for national competition by a parent

An ‘inspirational’ special educational needs teacher is set to take part in a national competition which could see her win a new title.

Keeley Robinson, who is the deputy safeguarding lead at Thomas Middlecott Academy in Kirton, could be crowned Teacher of the Year after being entered into the contest by a parent.

The parent, who did not wish to be named said: “Miss Robinson has been an amazing support for us. The support we’ve had, including extra revision sessions and adjustments, means my children have done really well in recent exams.

“She truly goes above and beyond to help my children, and I’m sure many others too. Her responsiveness to any issues, and her care and dedication is what helps my children go to school. She thoroughly deserves to be teacher of the year.”

The national competition will run until August 31 and the winner will be announced in September, where the teacher with the most votes will be crowned. If she wins, Miss Robinson could also receive a £1250 Lincolnshire gift card – which is led by Destination Lincolnshire and can be spent with more than 40 businesses in the county, including shops, restaurants and attractions.

Principal at Thomas Middlecott Academy, Lisa Hawkins, said: “We are delighted to hear Miss Robinson has been nominated as teacher of the year. She is a true inspiration to both staff and students and goes above and beyond in her work to offer continuous care and support to all those around her.

“We are extremely proud to have her as part of our community.”

Charlotte Goy, chief executive at Destination Lincolnshire, said: “It’s fantastic to read this wonderful nomination for Miss Robinson at one of our Lincolnshire high schools.

“Just reading the nomination, it’s clear to see the huge impact that teachers like Miss Robinson have on young people’s lives. Please keep voting for the teacher you think deserves to be the Teacher of the Year.”

We’d love to hear of more inspirational teachers. Post a coment b
