Lincolnshire Police say a 28-year-old man died after his car crashed into a water-filled ditch in Tongue End

Police say they are continuing to investigate a fatal collision.

Lincolnshire Police has confirmed that a 28-year-old man died after his car crashed and was left overturned in a water-filled ditched in Tongue End on Friday last week – despite the efforts of two officers who waded into the water to try and rescue him.

Seven men were originally arrested after the incident but one was ‘de-arrested’ on Sunday.

A force statement said: “The person who died is a 28-year-old man.

“The case has been referred to the coroner.

“Our investigation into the circumstances are ongoing.”

Two men aged 33 and four men - aged 20, 24, 27 and 31 -were released on bail.

The collision had been reported at 3.37pm on Friday afternoon and involved a grey Ford Focus, a black Vauxhall Insignia and a grey Volkswagen Touran.

Officers say they are still appealing for witnesses to come forward.
