Heatwave did not deter Grimsby Fishmonger Mark Marwood from attending Spalding Market
A stoic fishmonger was not deterred by the heatwave from serving customers today.
Mark Marwood packed his van full of ice to ensure that his customers in Spalding did not miss out on fresh fish landed at Grimsby this morning.
Spalding market had been cancelled today due to the hot weather - and the Met Office is forecasting that temperatures in the town will hit 41C at 4pm today (Tuesday).
But the Grimsby trader, who got up at 4.30am this morning, did not want to let his customers down and has been parked up Market Place this morning.
Mr Marwood said: "I had orders to deliver to customers today so I had to turn up. They come up and see me specially so they can get the fresh fish but they turned up early doors.
"I have kept the van topped up with ice and I have kept the tailgate down so it remains cold.
"It hasn't been too bad as I stood in the shade and there is nice little breeze.
"It's only a bit of weather."
The Loft restaurant in Swan Street, Spalding has not opened today due to the heat while the Old Copper Kettle in Crowland will be closing early 2pm.
Crowland Cancer Fund shop is also closed today.
