Jobs to be created after Gosberton garage given permission for extension

A long-established garage has been given permission to extend its premises following ‘ever increasing demand’.

Reeves Tyres can create new MOT bay at their Spalding Road site in Gosberton, which they say will create more job opportunities.

The family-run business has been operating for more than four decades and will soon be able to carry out work on larger vehicles.

“The existing purposed built unit was constructed approximately 40 years ago as a dedicated tyre and exhaust centre,” the design and access statement produced by agent Tulip Design said.

“With ever increasing supply and demand from local residents and companies, the time has come for the business to expand.

“By extending the premises the applicant can then offer additional and improved services such as MOT`s for slightly larger vehicles other than domestic cars.

“The current building form limits vehicle type, size, height and space.”

The statement added that the expansion would create one full time and one part time roles at the garage.

Reeves Tyres, situated behind the Wheelrite alloy wheel specialists, currently has three full time and one part time members of staff.

Support for the plans came from South Holland district councillor Henry Bingham, who said he would ‘struggle to see any negative impact to the surrounding properties’.

“The proposed layout is an open plan extension which can also be accessed by existing personnel door from the existing workshop as well as the new main roller shutter,” the design and access statement added.

“The proposed extension will be a taller building than the original structure, however this would be a necessity as so access can be made possible for larger vans and vehicles so MOT facilities can be offered going forward.”

Planning permission was granted by South Holland District Council.
