Fighting Spirit karate club looking for more youngsters at Holbeach, Gedney Dyke and Weston Hills classes

A karate club is on the hunt for new members as it looks to kick-start an expansion.

The Fighting Spirit martial arts club first started up at Holbeach Community Centre nearly a decade ago, before classes were set up in Gedney Dyke and Weston Hills during the last few years.

Now, chief instructor Victor Santos (46) is offering up more spots for youngsters who want to get involved.

His twin sons Santiago and Cristiano (pictured above) are amongst his award-winning members. Mr Santos is an ASAI UK examiner.

After losing some members during the pandemic, he is looking for both youngsters and adults who want to try something different.

Mr Santos says karate can help with ‘confidence, self esteem, self defence, and releasing stress’.

He has been involved in the sport for 30 years.

Holbeach sessions take place at the community centre on Thursday evenings from 5-6pm.

Gedney Dyke Village Hall plays host to Fighting Spirit on Mondays (5-6pm), while Weston Hills Village Hall does so on Fridays (5-6pm).

A number of success stories have come out of the club in recent years. In 2019, Mr Santos’ twins both earned their black belts at the age of 10 - and both have held UK titles.

They have also taken part at European championships.
