A landmark Spalding department store has announced it has closed today.

In a notice on the door director Mr Crowson said: “All possible avenues have been explored to save the business and keep the store open, but due to significant increases in costs and declining sales it was decided that there was no option but to close this store.

“The management of the business would like to thank all the staff for their hard work and to all our customers for their continued support over the last two years.”

Below the statement it added arrangements were being made to place Spalding Apparel Ltd into liquidation.
