Late start for Spalding college students due to 'driver error'
A number of students from Spalding were late for college on Thursday after a bus failed to turn up on time.
Youngsters who were waiting at Spalding Bus Station for the 7.50am service to take them to Boston College ended up setting off shortly before 9am.
One parent, who asked not to be named, said: "My daughter called at 8.15am to say she was still waiting for her bus which should have been there at 7.50am.
"I called the bus company and a lady they told me that the driver had got as far as Kirton where, for some reason, he turned back to Boston.
"She also said she would try to get one of the school buses to go round and pick up my daughter and the other students who were waiting to take them to college."
A Brylaine spokesman said: "There was a driver error on Thursday morning which resulted in the 7.50am Spalding to Boston service being delayed.
"To resolve the matter as fast as possible we re-routed another bus and took the students directly from Spalding Bus Station straight to Boston College.
"We also held our feeder buses at Boston College to support any students who needed to go to its annexe at the Peter Paine Performance Centre.
"However, some students had boarded the waiting 9am service bus and they were advised to leave and board the bus which had been provided to take them directly to college.
"We, of course, apologise for any inconvenience this caused, but we kept parents, students and the college updated throughout, using social media as an invaluable, real-time information platform."
