Take this job and you will end up in prison!

Do you fancy doing something unusual? Are you prepared to go where members of the public do not usually go? Could you sort out problems for those who are serving time?

Become an Independent Monitor of life at North Sea Camp open prison.

The job could be one of the most rewarding ones you have done.

But one thing is for sure, if you take this job you will go to jail.

There are currently six members of the Independent Monitoring Board (IMB) at North Sea Camp.

All are ordinary people who have volunteered do a job which is anything but

ordinary.

Every prison has an IMB attached to it whose role is to ensure that Home Office rules and regulations are properly applied and proper standards of care and decency are maintained.

The job is unpaid but expenses are covered.

The Board would welcome applications from individuals who are enthusiastic, open minded, have good communication skills and can exercise sound and objective judgement.

We would like to hear from anyone who is over 18 and lives within 35 miles of Boston. We are particularly keen to hear from anyone of working age, members of black and ethnic minority communities and women as these are under represented on the existing Board.

Prospective members need no special qualifications or experience, as training and support will be provided. The work typically takes up four to five half days a month but the board can be flexible.

Phenomenal efforts towards the community and charity

I wish to draw you attention to the fabulous efforts of (South Holland District) Coun Glynis Scalese.
Last week she involved people supported by the Spalding Mencap service in clearing litter from the park in St Paul’s ward.
I have been associated with Glynis for seven years. Her efforts towards the community and charity fundraising is phenomenal.
