South Holland libraries open for collecting books and computer use only
Libraries in Spalding and Long Sutton are open to the public for book collections and the use of computers, it has been confirmed today (Thursday).
Despite Lincolnshire being under tier 3 coronavirus restrictions, people can still visit the two libraries in South Holland where COVID-secure measures will be in place.
However, the libraries, in Victoria Street, Spalding, and Trafalgar Square, Long Sutton, will be limited to a "click and collect" service for books, while computer use will only be for those who book in advance.
There will be no access to both libraries for browsing, but people who currently have books borrowed from Community Hubs in Crowland, Donington or Sutton Bridge, loans will be extended into January.
Coun Nick Worth, executive member for culture at Lincolnshire County Council, said: "We know these services are a real lifeline to the community and we have seen during last month's lockdown, the click and collect service for books works really well.
"Residents have also continued to use the computers to access essential digital public services.
SPECIAL REPORT: Falling back in love with the library - it's much more than just books
"I would remind residents to call ahead before making a journey, just to check they are open, then have your books ready or a timeslot available on the computers.
"To reassure residents, we are doing all we can to keep the facilities COVID secure and there are many safety measures in place, including hand sanitiser, asking visitors to use face coverings, remaining two metres apart, quarantining books for 72 hours and keeping space beside computers.
