Happy couple from Long Sutton on sharing their Big Day with royalty
Long Sutton newlyweds Jake Clitheroe and Carly Simpson shared their special day with royalty when they got married last month.
The happy couple tied the knot at the The Red Barn in Norfolk - the same day as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle said “I Do” at St George’s Chapel, Windsor.
Carly said: “The day was perfect and we enjoyed every moment, the weather couldn’t have been better either.
“We really enjoyed watching the royal wedding whilst getting ready, too.
“We couldn’t have wished for a better venue. They all made sure the day ran smoothly for us.”
Carly and Jake have been together nine years and met through friends when they were teenagers.
Carly previously told us: “When I heard Meghan and Harry were getting married in the spring, I just knew out of all the days it would be the same as ours!
“It’s been a joke between friends, but at least we should never forget our anniversary!"
Jake proposed whilst the couple were on a skiing holiday, after snowboarding around with the ring in his pocket.
“He finally asked me on the last day of the holiday back in February 2016,” Carly said.
“The day was perfect and we enjoyed every moment, the weather couldn’t have been better either. We really enjoyed watching the royal wedding whilst getting ready, too."
The couple went on honeymoon to Crete for a week.
“It was a lovely relaxing break after a very hectic few weeks,” Carly added.
