University Academy Long Sutton announces major rebuilding programme

Secondary school bosses in Long Sutton have revealed plans for a major rebuilding programme.

University Academy Long Sutton says it has been selected as one of the 61 schools to be part of the Government’s flagship School Rebuilding Programme.

It says that its new buildings will be 'energy efficient designs' with high sustainability standards and will be net zero in operation.

Liam Davé, school principal, said: “This is wonderful news. I am delighted for the young people of Long Sutton and surrounding wards. We are all very excited for the future of the school and the local community.”

Leaders argue they will 'transform the learning environment' and help them to give pupils the skills and knowledge they need.

Current and future parents and pupils will be able to see and contribute to the designs of the new buildings and UALS says it will keep everyone up to date through a special section on its website.

Steve Baragwanath, executive principal, added: “This is excellent news which enables us to improve provisions for the youngsters in the area – something which has been long term ambitions for the trust.”

Chair of governors Andrew Everard commented: “The Governing Body is delighted with the superb news of the new buildings for the community.”

The school, formerly known as the Peele, is part of the University of Lincoln Academy Trust.

Neal Juster, vice chancellor of the University of Lincoln, said: “Fantastic news. Strong leadership and a new school building – fantastic for the community and for our staff.”
