Make new friends over a cuppa at Spalding Library as part of mental health awareness event

Members of the public are being invited to enjoy a hot drink and a chat at Spalding Library, as part of a mental health awareness event.

The event will be held on Thursday (February 1), as part of Time To Talk Day.

“It’s about getting people out to meet up and talk about how they feel, to help with their mental health,” explained Vanessa Browning of Community Mind matters, who is organising the day.

“Pop in and have a chat or a cup of tea with us. If people need help we’ll be there for them.”

Time To Talk Day is described as ‘the nation’s biggest mental health conversation’.

The annual event encourages families, communities and workplaces to ‘come together to talk, listen and change lives’.

“That first step is always the hardest but once you’ve done it, you know there are other people out there struggling as well,” Vanessa added.

“Mental health is a lonely place but when you have that conversation people open up.

“I always say you’re not alone. You don’t have to chat, we don’t push people to talk - just come and have a cup of tea with us, say hello.”

The event takes place between 10am and 4pm.
