Man arrested in connection to closure of Spalding European shop on Winsover Road

A man has been arrested after a raid found illegal cigarettes in a shop that had already been forced to shut.

Police say the 35-year-old was spotted by officers acting ‘suspiciously’ outside the Spalding European shop on Winsover Road on Friday (May 30).

The store was forced to close in January as part of a clamp down on the sale of illegal cigarettes and vapes in the area.

Police say the man was arrested inside the shop for breaching the closure order and also in relation to six bags of suspected counterfeit cigarettes which were found during a forced entry.

He has been released on bail whilst South Holland Police continue an investigation into the matter.
