Driving ban for Spalding man involved in an accident while drunk
A Spalding man has been banned from driving for over three years after magistrates heard he had been involved in an accident while drunk, just two years after previously being convicted of drunk driving.
Peter James Coaten, 37, of Meadow Way admitted driving with excess alcohol when he appeared at Boston Magistrates Court yesterday (Wednesday, October 30).
Prosecuting, Paul Wood said Coaten was the driver of a Peugeot 207 that was in collision with two other vehicles in Stonegate at 9.30pm on October 7.
He said he was arrested following a positive breath test and provided a reading of 66 microgrammes of alcohol, the legal limit being 35, and said it was his second conviction, having previously been convicted in October 2017.
Mitigating, Helen Coney said Coaten would lose his job as a result of the driving ban.
She said he attributed his drinking to the recent death of his brother and that the driving ban would have a considerable impact on him.
Coaten was banned from driving for 38 months and fined £120 and £117 in costs and charges.
