Lincolnshire Police reveal man will be deported after Spalding undercover operation
A 23-year-old man has admitted assaulting an emergency worker and now faces being kicked out of the country.
Mihai Cojocaru was arrested by officers as they worked undercover in Spalding town centre on an operation to tackle ATM skimming.
A Lincolnshire Police spokesperson said: “Proactive work from the South Holland Neighbourhood Team led to the arrest and deportation of a man.
“The team were undercover in Spalding town on Friday, May 3 when they attempted to detain and search 23-year-old Mihai Cojocaru in relation to an investigation into thefts from ATMs using a cash skimming device.
“Cojocaru, of no fixed address, was not compliant and assaulted an officer in the process.
“Cojocaru, who was wanted for failing to appear and in breach of a deportation order, was subsequently charged on 4 May with assaulting an emergency worker and remanded.
“He appeared at Lincoln Magistrates Court on 6 May where he pleaded guilty to the assault and was ordered to pay £262 in fines, £85 court costs and a £105 victim surcharge. He is currently awaiting deportation.”
