Meeting hopes to edge play park hopes closer to reality in Moulton
It is hoped that plans to create a children’s play park in a village has edged closer following an extraordinary meeting.
Moulton Parish Council called the meeting, which was held last week, to seek further details from South Holland District Council.
Last month it was revealed SHDC’s offer of a third of an acre within Moulton Park had been accepted, allowing the paperwork to begin.
“It was a meeting to to put questions to the district council,” explained Andrew Woolf, chairman of South Holland District Council and former chairman of Moulton Parish Council.
“We wanted to get answers in writing to some outstanding questions such as the length of the lease, and to iron out any queries.
“The questions were compiled and sent to the district. It doesn’t delay anything, it’s just seeking clarity.
“It’s just making sure of these bits as the next step is a planning application needing to be put in, dotting is and crossing ts.”
Coun Woolf described the meeting as ‘well-attended.
“It raised interest from the public, as you’d expect,” he said.
“Their input was valued as well.”
The village currently doedsn’t have a play area for youngsters and plans to put one in place have hit a numbe rof snags.
Lincolnshire County Council’s highways department were unhappy with the proposed park entrance due to the disturbance of tree roots and hedges, while a bat survey was also proposed.
A year ago a plan was rejected on the grounds that plans did not fit the allotted rectangluar shape.
A project to build a play area in Moulton has been hit by a further delay - as the plans do not fit the rectangle shape allotted.
The district council purchased the 23 acre park in 2016 for £302,000 and has looked at a number of options, including a green burial ground, which has been paused.
