Memorial service will honour Wisbech-born Susan Hinds, who worked in Spalding
A memorial service will be held to remember a former South Holland woman.
On September 28, Susan Hinds (Stannard) lost her battle to metastatic cervical cancer, aged 60. She passed peacefully at home, surrounded by her family.
Suzy was born in Wisbech in her grandmother’s house in 1963, which was along the River Nene.
Suzy has two brothers, Stephen who lives in New Zealand and Andrew who lives in Wisbech close by mum, Dora Fitzjohn.
Suzy attended Queens school in Wisbech. She married first husband Andrew Stannard in 1983. She was training as a nurse before first daughter Leanne came along in 1989, followed by Emma in 1992, so she didn’t get chance to finish her nursing degree.
Suzy worked at Malet Azoulay – a fruit factory on Stephenson Avenue, Spalding for over a decade, and was loved by many colleagues. Suzy has always been a huge supporter of Liverpool Football Club and enjoyed watching most games.
In 2010, Suzy moved to Cocoa Beach, Florida, after finding love in paradise and married Jerry Hinds, who grew up in Michigan. Suzy’s favourite place was by the water, or at the Jetty watching the Rocket Launches from Kennedy Space Centre, Cape Canaveral.
Suzy was so strong throughout all her treatment, and had eight months of remission before the cancer returned. The family are devastated, she left us to soon, but we find peace now, that she is no longer in pain. Our beautiful angel, always.
There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, November 11, in Cocoa Beach, Florida, and have made it possible for the service to be streamed online to family and friends in the UK. If you knew Suzy and would like to watch the service, please get in touch with Emma Stannard on Facebook.
