Military planes to take to skies over Lincolnshire in rehearsals for VE Day flypast

A large flypast of military planes is to take place in London for VE Day — with rehearsals set for the skies of Lincolnshire.

As part of events to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day on May 5, a flypast of current and historic military planes, including the Red Arrows display team, is to take place over the capital.

Rehearsals for this are to take place on Monday, April 28, with Restriction of Flying Regulations to be put in place in skies near Lincoln, Cranwell, Spalding, and parts of Norfolk, Suffolk, and the North Sea, to allow for the large number of aircraft to rehearse.

The Red Arrows are among the aircraft due to take part in the VE Day flypast.

Rehearsals are due to take place between 1.20pm and 2.10pm and the route will take aircraft over RAF Marham, Norfolk and RAF Cranwell and RAF Waddington, Lincolnshire.

If the rehearsals cannot successfully take place on April 28, they will instead take place the following day (Tuesday, April 29).
