More than 1,420 people went along to Long Sutton fireworks
A well - attended fireworks event has raised funds for Long Sutton Football Club.
The fireworks night on Saturday at The Parkside Club, supported by Long Sutton Parish Council, hosted some 1,420 people – a couple of hundred more than last year.
Organiser Sean Gedney from Fireworks4You said: “It went very well and the weather held out, normally there are 1,200-1,300 people so it was alright.
“As a local community event with £2 per person we managed to pay for everything and gave £200 to the football club.”
With a minimal entry fee the funds that were left over were donated to the club where Mr Gedney runs the bar and acts as wellbeing officer, secretary and player.
He said: “I am heavily involved with the club and members also helped with marshalling and volunteering on the night.”
John Clarey, chair of Long Sutton Parish Council said: “I have been told it was very well attended and very good.”
Planning for next year’s fireworks night will start nearer Christmas and will fall on the nearest Saturday to November 5.
