More than 20,000 flowers crafted for Spalding Flower Parade

So far, crafters from across our area have made more than 20,000 blooms for next year’s revived Spalding Flower Parade.

Organiser Stephen Timewell popped in to Spalding Library with South Holland District Council Chairman Paul Redgate to collect the latest batch at the weekend.

“I am just amazed by the dedication of these crafters,” Steve said.

“I collect the flowers almost every other day and they just keep on coming.

“This part of the event has really got the community pulling together.”

The knitted and crocheted flowers will be used to decorate floats taking part in next May’s event.

There is also currently an exhibition of Flower Parade memorabilia at Spalding Library, featuring a number of items of note.
