Spalding's Springfields Motorbike Show hosts superbikes star Danny Buchan

Bike fans made their annual pilgrimage to Spalding for the 34th Springfields Motorbike Show.

Kawaski star Danny Buchan from British Superbikes was a special guest on both days of the event, while former British champion Steve Plater made an appearance on Sunday.

Claire Lunn, who organises the event with husband Jason, said the winter sunshine helped make it a very busy show.

"It was a great success," said Claire. "Over the weekend, including all of the clubs and trade stands, we had more than 3,000 people in attendance and a record number of bikes."

Claire says the shows are always special and, as always, there was excellent support from the local clubs as well as welcome visits by the Royal British Legion Riders, BSA, the VMCC, Triumph Owners and the Halfway Heroes.

Among the show highlights was the superb display of classic bikes in the marquee hall, the oldest machine dating back to 1911.

Claire said: "There were some superb classic bikes this year, and we want to thank the coordinator, Dave Bryant, because he did an exceptional job this year."

One trend in the rising number of visitors is younger people, and Claire says they are showing interest not only in the bikes but renovations too.

The show is run in partnership with the events centre.

Claire said: "We are very grateful for the support of David Norton and his team."

Dates are already pencilled in for the 35th show on January 23 and 24.
