Spalding road will be shut for two weeks

Anglian Water has confirmed that a key town route will be closed for the best part of two weeks.

Commercial Road in Spalding has been closed for a third time by Anglian Water in three months - prompting further havoc on the town roads this morning (Thursday, November 28).

The firm has now confirmed that they have been forced to close the road to repair a burst rising main - and it will not be reopened before Wednesday, December 11.

A spokesman said: “We’re sorry for the inconvenience and acknowledge that Commercial Road has needed to be closed for other repairs this year. As such, I wanted to assure you that after the repair has been completed, we’re looking to carry out further investigations on this part of our network.”

The road was first closed on September 15 for the best part of a week while engineers repaired an issue with a sewer.

A few weeks later, the ‘road closed’ signs were up again when Anglian Water returned to make further repairs.

The closure of Commercial Road - which is a key route for the town’s one-way system - created gridlock around Spalding as motorists tried to negotiate around the area.
