Motorists face another day of traffic woes in Spalding

Motorists are facing another morning of traffic chaos trying to negotiate their way around Spalding.

Heavy congestion has been reported on all of the major roads around the town and backing further down into Churchgate, Pinchbeck.

Traffic lights have been set up on Holbeach Road by Anglian Water - creating tailbacks in both directions - with roadworks also reported in Hawthorn Bank and Park Road.

The problems are also affecting the town’s bus services.

A tweet from Brylaine Travel states: “We are suffering delays on our B3 service between Boston and Spalding due to four sets of traffic restrictions on the route, compounded traffic build up into Spalding and the freight trains in Spalding - please bear with us as some trips are delayed by up to 15 minutes.”

Problems were also witnessed yesterday with long queues on the A16 at Spalding. A motorist last night reported taking 40 minutes to get to their town home due to traffic.

There are also fears that the closure of Wardentree Lane in Pinchbeck will affect Saturday’s parade.

Issues are also due to get worse on Tuesday and Wednesday next week when Network Rail will be pushing an additional 100 trains through the town due to engineering works.
