MP Sir John Hayes discusses agricultural matters with NFU
National Farmers Union members met with MP Sir John Hayes to discuss critical matters relating to agriculture and horticulture in South Holland.
The meeting was chaired by branch chairman Chris Carter and provided an excellent opportunity to discuss industries responsible for supplying a large proportion of the country's food and flowers.
Topics included the urgent need to address the current pressures being placed on labour availability; the ongoing battle against rural crime; the need for the local network connectivity to be fit for purpose and ensuring local transport infrastructure is adequate for the needs of modern agricultural and horticultural industries.
Members were pleased to receive Sir John’s ongoing commitment to provide support in all of these areas both individually and in conjunction with NFU regional representatives and use his influence to work alongside fellow Lincolnshire MPs and local police in addition to raising concerns at a ministerial level.
Further collaboration between the NFU and Sir John, focusing on the Agriculture Bill, post BREXIT, was also discussed.
