Spalding Gentlemen’s Society museum to feature Tulip Parade exhibition
An exhibition celebrating the past of Spading Tulip Parade will be on display in a town museum.
Spalding Gentlemen’s Society will be showing archive material and two mini dresses on mannequins at its Broad Street museum on May 13.
Children will learn more about the Egyptians during a workshop in Spalding Methodist Church Hall in Broad Street on June 2 from 10am to 4pm. A £2 donation is requested.
A society quiz night will be held on June 14 at the methodist hall for members, family and friends. The quiz starts at 7pm. To book a place, costing £5, email: quiz.sgs@gmail.com.
While a Fascinating Fens exhibition, will be held from June 16-17, will be looking at drainage in the Fens.
- Heritage Open Day, in September will focus on ‘The Adventures of William Stukeley’ including the man’s prints and displays. There will also be an exhibition of books from the original SGS Library.
When the society was founded in 1710 by Maurice Johnson, the membership fee was either £1 or the donation of a book leading to a fascinating collection.
