AyscoFest music festival and carnival plans announced by Spalding Town Forum
Plans are in the pipeline to run a carnival and one-day music festival in Spalding next year.
Spalding Town Forum is planning to hold an event which combines food and music next year to bring the community together.
Coun Mark Le Sage is already working on plans for ‘AyscoFest’ – a one day music festival in the grounds of the historic hall on July 27.
Coun Le Sage, who helped to set-up Spalding Music Festival, is working with Coun Dave Ashby and museum manager Julia Knight on the plans.
He said: “We could have a selection of things in the town centre as well. Having that would encourage people into the town and Ayscoughfee.
“Hopefully it is something that could grow into something bigger.”
Coun Ingrid Sheard put forward the idea of running a carnival in town and is hoping that schools could be involved.
“I think it would be an ideal opportunity to bring our community together in Spalding and the surrounding area. Something we could potentially bring an international food element.”
She later said: “The sooner we get something out there that our intention is to do this, the more likely it is to have more people potentially planning. I know we need to get hype.”
Spalding Town forum chairman Coun Rob Gibson floated the idea of the committee holding an event next year.
He said: “It seems like we have the opportunity to create a carnival type event based around food and music.”
Spalding Civic Society chairman John Bland was supportive of holding more events in town and said that his group is planning something big in October next year – which could see livestock return to the town centre.
He said: “The more people involved the more we can do.”
