New South Holland District Council chairman chosen at first in person meeting since pandemic began
The first in-person meeting of South Holland District Council in 14 months saw a new chairman and vice chairman selected for the district.
Councillors gathered for the first time last night since Covid forced meetings to go online - and picked Coun Paul Redgate as the authority's new figurehead.
Coun Redgate (44), who represents the Whaplode and Holbeach St Johns ward, takes up the reins from Holbeach councillor Francis Biggadike.
He selected Mind as his chosen charity and vowed to be an 'engaging' presence while acting as the ceremonial head of the council.
Coun Redgate also praised his predecessor and vowed to carry out his duties to the same 'high level' as Coun Biggadike.
Coun Redgate's deputy will be Coun Andrew Woolf (48), who represents Moulton, Weston and Cowbit.
The meeting was held in the marquee suite at Springfields Events and Conference Centre in Spalding.
