The Chequers at Weston under new management

An exciting new chapter is beginning at The Chequers of Weston, which is under new management.

Katie Booth, of OK Catering, and her partner Stuart Belding, have taken over the village pub where they are promising diners a delicious menu of traditional home cooked food, made from locally sourced ingredients.

As well as breakfast, lunches and light bites, bar nibbles and evening meals, Katie and her team will also be serving up afternoon tea, Sunday lunch and a children’s menu while the bar is well-stocked with a variety of wine, ale, lager, gin and more.

Katie, of Spalding, launched OK Catering 16 years ago, and has catered functions including weddings, funerals, charity balls, corporate and private events across Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk.

For the past 11 years she has been managing the restaurant at Fenland Airfield, Holbeach St Johns, alongside her catering company.

“It’s a really exciting new chapter for both us and the pub; I really enjoyed working at the airfield but it was time for a change and this fantastic opportunity came along,” said Katie.

“We’ve created some great menus featuring some of our favourite home-cooked dishes and wherever possible we’ll be using locally sourced ingredients.

“We want to create a welcoming, friendly atmosphere here at The Chequers and we’re really looking forward to welcoming in old and new customers for some great food and drink.

“We’ve hopefully got something for everyone – even the children will be catered for thanks to our mascot Chester, The Chequers Owl.”

As well as managing The Chequers, Katie will also continue to take bookings for outside catering events as well as events at the pub. Katie is also offering a butchery service at the pub, with customers able to place orders for collection.

In the run up to Christmas, The Chequers, High Road, is taking festive party bookings and is also taking bookings for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve.

“We’re really looking forward to our first Christmas here – there’s lots planned,” added Katie.

“We’re already taking festive party bookings and on Christmas Day we’ll be offering a traditional menu with all the trimmings and can’t wait to welcome more people to The Chequers.”
