Bourne Grammar School chooses new head teacher to take over from next year




Bourne Grammar School will have a new head teacher at its helm from January 2021.

Alastair Anderson has been appointed to succeed current head Jonathan Maddox who is leaving the school at the end of this year.

Mr Anderson, currently deputy head at Wellington School in Somerset was chosen after a three-day selection process which included interviews with governors and students.

Speaking about his new role, Mr Anderson said: "I feel privileged to have been offered the headship at this historic and high-performing school.

"I look forward to working with all the staff, students, parents and governors as the school moves confidently into the future."

Mr Anderson will become only the sixth head at Bourne Grammar School in the last 100 years, taking over from Mr Maddox who joined the school in January 2005.

Stephen Brown, the school's deputy head teacher, said: "I am delighted to announce that the governors have appointed Alastair Anderson to succeed Jonathan Maddox as our next head teacher.

"Mr Anderson was selected following an extremely rigorous three-day selection process involving a selection panel of governors and an external advisor.

"I am confident that Mr Anderson will be an excellent match for our school and will build on the 16 years of progress made under the present head teacher."
