New inclusive play equipment for children with additional needs has been installed at Quadring park

Children with additional needs are able to get involved thanks to new equipment at a park.

Quadring Play Park has completed it’s second stage of refurbishment and now features inclusive chairs and wheelchair friendly benches.

Parish councillor Andrew Jackson, said: “The new equipment has vastly improved the area. People who have been using it are happy and Sense charity, have said children will now be able to use the swings because of the inclusive chair.

“We want to open it up for everyone to use and we are hoping that the stage three improvements will come in the next financial year, so we can keep this momentum going forward.”

Businesses in the village supported the project and Lincolnshire Community Foundation awarded a grant funded towards it. The refurbishment cost more than £23,000 and over £16,000 was raised.

Andrew added: “We would like to offer our thanks to Playdale Playgrounds, for their work supplying and fitting this equipment for us and to all the grants and donations from Lincolnshire Community foundation, JB Robinson and Son Ltd, Trevor Diggings Ltd, and Chandlers Farm Equipment Ltd, Coun Margaret Geaney and Coun Michael Clift.

“Without the help of the people mentioned we would not have been able to complete so much of the park so quickly.”

Sue Fortune, CEO of Lincolnshire Community Foundation said: “The Foundation is proud to have been able to support the cost of creating and installing this new fantastic new play equipment for residents of Quadring and beyond.

“It’s vital rural communities have opportunities and access to participate in outdoor activities, they not only promote play but bring people together and, thus, help to reduce feelings of isolation.

“The first phase was made possible by funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund GRASSroots Grants Programme funded by South and East Lincolnshire Partnership, and overseen by the team at Lincolnshire Community Foundation, match by a contribution from the Parish Council.

“The Foundation was able to contribute the costs of the most recent phased installation utilising the proceeds of sale of a local amenity that was no longer viable.”
