New library for new year at Pinchbeck East Primary School
There are no excuses for children at Pinchbeck East Primary School not to enjoy their reading after the opening of a new library this term.
Sarah Holland, chairman of The Friends of the School, cut the ribbon to officially open the library in front of eager and excited youngsters.
Parents, guardians and staff were also on hand to witness the historic ceremony which got the new school year off to a positive start.
Head of school Teeny Vayro said: "As a school, we have always promoted the reading of real books, especially in our age of screen technology.
"We are extremely fortunate to have a very energetic, creative and supportive group of volunteers, called The Friends of the School, who have been fundraising for the last two years to create a new school library, alongside other projects, to enhance the children’s day-to day experience of school life.
"The library, situated within the newest part of our school, certainly has the wow factor for our children and I am sure they will love visiting it and spending time there, as will the staff.
"After Mrs Holland opened our amazing new library, the children then took their parents through the ‘tunnel of wonderful book characters’.
"A professional street artist spent a week at the beginning of the summer holiday turning the walls into the most incredible masterpiece of book characters, both old and new.
"The children and staff are so excited by this wonderful asset to our school which will enable us to pursue our philosophy of reading for pleasure, to unlock new worlds, develop the children’s imagination and open them up to a wealth of knowledge that will enhance their life skills and understanding.
"We are extremely grateful to our Friends of the School committee, along with our supportive parents, who have all been part of the fundraising effort over the past two years."
