New owners at Black Horse in Gosberton Risegate
A village pub will soon be reopening with new owners behind the bar.
Mike Sisson has bought The Black Horse in Gosberton Risegate with his family and is giving the site a new lease of life
The pub had been closed for much of last year after being placed on the market following the previous tenants giving up the lease.
One of the family members who will be working behind the bar is Mr Sisson’s step daughter Katie Gilbert.
She said: “We are in the process of giving the pub a fresh lick of paint.
“We are taking it back to what it originally was with home cooked food. We are aiming for a traditional pub feel.
“We are looking forward to opening.”
News that the pub has been taken over has been greeted with excitement from people living in Gosberton Clough and Risegate.
Katie said the family have received a warm welcome from the village.
She said: “Everyone we have spoken to has said that they were excited to see the pub opening as there isn’t another in the village.
“It feels like all of the village is supporting us.”
The village’s other pub, The Duke of York, has also been closed for some time and is set to make way for housing after planning permission was granted.
The Mermaid in Surfleet will also be converted into apartments and housing after planners gave the greenlight.
