New Holbeach pub Bar Nine 12 will open in August on the site of the old Chequers Hotel

Residents will be treated to a new pub when it opens its doors next month.

Bar 912, situated on High Street in Holbeach, has replaced the old Chequers Hotel site in the town.

It will officially open on August 27, and owner Hollie Pilling (35) says there will be a variety of options for customers.

“It’s going to be a wine, cocktail and champagne bar in one half of it, and we’ll have live sports in the other half,” she said.

“So we’ll split it into two areas.

“The idea is we want somewhere where you can come and have a few cocktails with your friends from work or on a first date, or if you want to come and watch the football in the other area, you can have two completely different experiences.”

Hollie, who co-owns the pub with her partner, says it is nearing completion now.

“We’re just finalising the premises’ license and advertising it at the moment,” she said.

“We’re so excited. We’ve been planning everything since March and had delays with restrictions being lifted, so we’ll be really glad to get it open.

“It’s the first pub I’ve owned. My partner has been involved with a couple of businesses in the hospitality industry before.

“We were having a look for somewhere relatively local as we’re actually from March. We were having a look through Holbeach to see what it’s like and we saw The Chequers was up for let, so we went in and had a look and it was exactly what we were looking for.

“It was kept as a bar downstairs when the upstairs turned residential, so it’s the perfect spot really.”

Bar 912 won’t be selling food for the time being, but it will be an option that will be considered once they have found their feet.

Hollie also says that, should things go well upon opening, she will consider having further establishments under the Bar 912 logo.

At the moment, she is focusing on the official opening nights late next month.

“We’re going to have two opening nights with quite a heavy social media presence,” she said.

“You’ll need to book and reserve for it, as we’re already quite busy. People have their names down already for tables, so it will be quite an exclusive event for the first few nights.

“We’ll look to have some music sorted and special offers on for opening night.”

While the pub will be open on the Sunday and Monday of their opening weekend because of a bank holiday, it is likely to be closed on Mondays moving forwards.

Hollie says the bar will be open from Tuesday to Sunday in order to show as many live sporting events as possible.

She is already focusing on next winter, when the 2022 World Cup will be taking place in Qatar.

She believes interest will be extremely high around the event, and cited the recently completed European Championships as evidence.
