Crowland Snowden Field parkrun enjoyed record turnout for 100th instalment

The Snowden Field parkrun celebrated its 100th instalment with a record-breaking turn out.

A total of 136 runners, walkers, joggers and dog walkers turned out for the popular Crowland event on Saturday.

“We had an extremely successful morning, we not only exceeded our target of 100 participants but also beat our attendance record of 131 by five people,” said event director Adam Caress.

“We also had a significant rise in the number of people walking around the course and we would be thrilled if this were to continue in the weeks to come.

“Additionally we had six first timers join us to complete their first ever parkrun.”

For many the joy can be found in combining exercise over the free-to-enter 5k course with the sociable side.

“The event ran smoothly, with no incidents, and many elected to gather at the finish area to grab a cake and cheer on the participants that were approaching the funnel,” Adam continued.

“The milestone event was made possible by 30 volunteers performing a variety of roles and we would be delighted to welcome new volunteers to help support our weekly parkrun.”

Snowden Field parkruns are held every Saturday, beginning at 9am.
